about

sarang choi was never first in anything- not in her 2nd grade spelling bee or in her graduating high school class. but the one thing that she excelled in was swimming. being raised in hawaii, she was no stranger to water and when she was able to talk was around the same time she began to swim. her room is scattered with medals and trophies that she had won in freestyle over the span of her lifetime. if there is one thing sarang will never fall second place in, it's this.

if her personality was put into an aesthetic, it would be homemade strawberry milk, the feeling of driving in the summer with the windows down, and laying down on fresh bed sheets straight out of the dryer. everyday, sarang’s goal is to embody the good things in life.

family. tw: drugs and death.

she was raised mostly by her grandparents because her mom died due to cardiac problems when she was a baby. she doesn't remember much about her, but she was told she had a great laugh: one that made everyone else in the room laugh too. whenever she asked about her father, her grandma always just said to not worry about it. it was only until, at the age of 18, she came across a picture frame of her mom and dad and found a letter in the back. sarang believed it would be full of love and affection, but she was instead shown threats from her father to her mother.

"i've gotten myself into something terrible. you need to stay away. if you contact me, i have no choice but to kill you and the baby. you cannot let her contact me or else she will be in danger too."

sarang was furious and confronted her grandmother about what she had read. unable to keep the secret any longer, her grandmother told the truth: her father had become the head of a drug cartel, and when her mother first received the letter, she thought they could talk it out. however, his threat was serious, and when she found him to try and fix things, he followed his word. her mother didn't die of heart problems, it was her own dad. the only reason sarang survived was because she had his eyes, and he couldn't do it.

she was dropped off on the front of her grandparents' with a note that explained everything.

"they know sarang's alive. you have to protect her and keep her true identity a secret or else they'll hurt her too. change her last name, and make sure she has no ties with me whatsoever. i want her to have a normal life: please help me fix my horrible mistake. i wish i was better for her. i'm sorry."

give me all or nothing.
